Jerusalem under Jewish control

They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Jerusalem was reunified under Israeli control following the Six-Day War in 1967, ending centuries of Gentile rule over the city.

How they relate

These prophecies address different signs, but together they fill out the prophetic pattern Scripture lays down for the season before Christ's return.

Neither passage tells us the day or the hour — “no one knows” (Matt 24:36). They tell us the shape of the season we're in so we can watch with hope, not fear.
